From a Muslim point of view:

Peace and blessings be upon you.

I would like to start by asking why? If I am not mistaken, nearly every Muslim in the world and even plenty of non-Muslims probably ask the same question; why?

You may ask why what? Why the Arab or the Muslims are going crazy in killing westerners, killing each other (like in Iraq the so-called sectarian killings, i.e. Sunni vs Shi’a, Sunni vs Sunni, and Shi’a vs Shi’a). Ok, let me tell you my opinion about this issue; I mean, why the Arab/Muslims are going on a mad killing spree. They say that the West (America, Britain, France and Europe) is interfering with their life, and that may be true, I agree to a certain extent, but what I don’t understand is that after taking each Arabic country individually I notice that they all have a very bad System of Government. A System that is so far from animal rights let alone human rights, but they still talk about how good of Muslims they are! And I do not doubt that they are not good Muslims to some extent. My issue is that before somebody from Lebanon or Palestine or from any Arabic or Muslim country decides to leave his country to go to a different country, let’s take Iraq for example, to help in jihad against what ever he thinks is the enemy, my question to him would be: Did you finish your self-struggle (jihad-anafs)? From my understanding of self-struggle, as the the Prophet (pbuh) said, it is the great struggle, much greater than to fighting against your enemy in a self defense or in helping those who take refuge in us from the bad people. So my question is: shouldn’t we, before leaving our countries to go abroad and spread Islam and peace elsewhere, do it in our own home? If we don’t do it in our homes, who will?? And if we can’t do it in our homes, who’s telling you that if you go abroad to do it elsewhere than you can come back when you are stronger?? Is it ok to go and kill people in someone else’s land? Did the first Muslims do that when the king of Kisrah allowed them to stay in his country, i.e., did they attack him or his people?? Of course not, so please brother if you want to do good for yourself and for Islam start form yourself and I’ll start from myself. Therefore, spread peace in your own home, then your own community, then your country. Make your country as an example to what you are selling me, if you really want me to buy what you are offering.

Let us talk a bit about moving abroad?

When we move outside our countries, sometimes directly or indirectly we do sign an agreement that we will obey by the rules of that country, so brother go back to the teachings of the Prophet (pbuh) and the Qura’an and see that we should never break an agreement unless the other side of the agreement broke it first. Think about those who broke their promises (3ahed) in the history of Islam and how they were humiliated.
